3D Documentation of the Historic San Giacomo Building in Corfu

The Cadastral & Surveying Department team at Consortis, led by Mr. Thanos Diamantopoulos, Head of the Department, carried out the 3D documentation of the historic San Giacomo heritage building in the heart of Corfu’s old town.

Covering a total area of 1,050 sq.m. across three levels (basement, ground floor, and upper floor), the project demanded high precision and the use of cutting-edge technology.

Step 1: Topographic Survey
Using the Topcon OS-200 total station and a GNSS receiver, we conducted an accurate mapping of the building, including fixed georeferencing points.

Step 2: 3D Scanning of Interior & Exterior Spaces
90 scans with the Leica RTC360, capturing 2,000,000 points per second for a high-resolution point cloud.
AUTEL EVO 2 PRO drone for exterior documentation.
BLK2GO handheld scanner for additional detail capture.

Step 3: Processing & Final Deliverables
The final output includes:

  •  Comprehensive point cloud integrating all technologies
  • Orthophotos of facades, floor plans, and cross-sections from the 3D model

With cutting-edge technology and expertise, we contribute to the preservation and documentation of cultural heritage through advanced geospatial solutions.

Stay tuned for more high-precision projects!
