June 3 – World Bicycle Day
Today, we celebrate a mode of transport that is environmentally friendly, cost-effective, and beneficial to our health. The bicycle is a cornerstone of sustainable urban mobility and a powerful ally in the transition toward more livable and accessible cities. Embracing sustainable transportation is no longer a choice — it is a necessity for modern urban environments.
At Consortis, through our active role in the development and implementation of Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUMPs) across municipalities and regions in Greece, we promote comprehensive solutions for cycling infrastructure — including dedicated bike lanes, safe parking facilities, and seamless integration with public transport systems. Our studies leverage geospatial data, spatial analysis tools, and smart technologies to support cycling as a practical and everyday means of transportation.
The Transport and Road Engineering Department at Consortis plays a vital role in this mission, combining technical expertise with strategic planning to design cyclist-friendly infrastructure. From the development of bike routes and road safety measures to the integration of bicycles into broader traffic planning, the department’s contribution is key to advancing sustainable mobility in Greek cities.
We design cities that invite you to pedal into the future.
