A New Era for the Historic San Giacomo Town Hall: The Restoration Contract Has Been Signed
The contract for the preparation of a technical study aimed at restoring the historic San Giacomo Town Hall was recently signed by the Mayor of Central Corfu and the Diapontian Islands, Stefanos Poulimenos, and the representative of the contracting company CONSORTIS, Giorgos Tsakoumis. This iconic building is a listed monument and a significant landmark for the city of Corfu.
The study includes updating the architectural survey of the building, assessing its structural adequacy, conducting electromechanical studies, and preparing a passive fire protection plan. Additionally, the necessary tender documents for the upcoming restoration works will be drafted. The project is funded by the Ionian Islands Regional Development Program 2021–2025, with a completion timeframe of 12 months.
Mr. Tsakoumis, CEO of CONSORTIS, expressed his satisfaction with the company's involvement in such an important cultural heritage project. Founded in 2005, CONSORTIS has undertaken over 2,000 projects, contributing to the implementation and enhancement of public and private infrastructure across Greece.
The restoration of the historic San Giacomo Town Hall is expected to strengthen Corfu's cultural identity, preserving its historical heritage while enhancing the building’s aesthetic and functional value.
