Spatial Planning: Presentation of the Special Urban Plan Scenarios for the Municipalities of Agrinio–Thermo
The presentation of the Alternative Scenarios of the Special Urban Plan (SUP) took place on Monday, December 1st, with the participation of citizens, professionals, and representatives of local institutions, marking a decisive step in shaping the strategic spatial and developmental identity of the region.
The SUP for the Municipality of Agrinio and the Municipality of Thermo (Municipal Units of Paravola, Makryneia, Arakynthos, Thestieis, Agrinio, Angelokastro) aims to create a comprehensive spatial planning framework capable of accommodating projects, programs, and initiatives of supra-local scale and strategic importance. It includes specialized chapters on climate change management, risk mitigation, and the development of policies that strengthen the region’s resilience and sustainability.
To achieve these goals, the SUP provides for: special regulation of land uses and development conditions, urban regeneration programs, environmental protection actions, natural disaster prevention and response plans, and the acceleration of first-level urban planning procedures, in order to address existing spatial problems and prevent the creation of new ones due to insufficient planning.
Consortis, as a member of the consortium of economic operators represented by its General Director, Mr. Georgios Tsakoumis, has undertaken the preparation of the SUP, contributing decisively to the design of a modern, functional, and sustainable development framework for the area.

The event was attended by the Mayor of Agrinio Mr. Papanastasiou, the Mayor of Thermo Mr. Konstantaras, the Secretary General of the Municipality of Agrinio Mr. Tziolis, the President of the Municipal Council of the Municipality of Thermo Mr. Kostakopoulos, and representatives of the company Diktyo.
During the consultation, three different development and spatial scenarios were presented, based on analytical studies of the existing urban planning framework and the needs of the region. The discussion was particularly lively, with participants expressing concerns, proposals, and ideas for the future of the urban and peri-urban landscape.
