Sustainable Water Management for the Future of Kozani
The presentation of the “Wastewater Management Study for the Lakeside Settlements of the Municipality of Kozani” was recently held — a project of strategic importance that makes a substantial contribution to improving sewerage infrastructure, ensuring the efficient management of water resources, and protecting the environment.
The project was commissioned to a consortium of economic operators, including Consortis, highlighting the company’s vital role in delivering complex environmental engineering and sustainable infrastructure projects.
The study focuses on the design of modern sewerage networks and wastewater treatment facilities for the lakeside settlements of Ano Komi, Kato Komi, Kaisareia, Agia Paraskevi, Rymnio, and Petrana.
Through the development of three wastewater treatment plants and more than 20 kilometers of pipeline network, the project aims to:
- protect Lake Polyphytos and the surrounding aquatic ecosystems
- safeguard public health and environmental safety
- strengthen the local economy and support sustainable tourism development, and
- ensure full compliance with national and European environmental legislation
As emphasized by Dr. Antonis Chatzigiannis, Head of the Hydraulic Works Department at Consortis, during his presentation, this initiative represents a strategic investment in the future of Kozani — securing the sustainable management of water resources and enhancing residents’ quality of life.
Consortis continues to deliver integrated engineering services that combine infrastructure development with a commitment to environmental responsibility and the well-being of local communities.
