Flood Protection of River and Restoration of Irrigation Canal
Consortis undertook a vital project to ensure flood protection and optimal water management for the Lilandas River. The area faced significant flood risks, threatening the safety of residents, agricultural lands, and infrastructure.
The Problem
The Lilandas River is a critical water source for irrigation in the region. However, the lack of effective water management and insufficient flood control infrastructure created serious environmental, economic, and social challenges.
The Solution
Consortis’ Department of Environment and Energy, implemented a comprehensive approach, involving detailed studies and specialized solutions to regulate and control the river’s flow:
- River Regulation: Designed and executed works to manage water flow and energy, ensuring flood prevention
- Water Intake and Irrigation Canal: Constructed water intake structures and connections to the irrigation canal, guaranteeing uninterrupted irrigation for the area
- Underground Water Passage: Installed technical infrastructure for the underground transfer of river water, ensuring safe and efficient distribution
- Precision Surveys: Conducted a 70-hectare topographic survey, including horizontal and vertical mapping, and developed an Environmental Impact Study (EIS)
