Study for the Specialization of Integrated Territorial Investment (ITI) "Rodopi Mountain Range and Nestos River Zone"

CONSORTIS has undertaken the "Study for the Specialization of Integrated Territorial Investment (ITI) for the Rodopi Mountain Range and Nestos River Zone." The study is part of the Operational Program "Eastern Macedonia - Thrace 2021-2027" and aims to enhance sustainable development through the utilization of the region's natural resources, following a participatory consultation process.

The Problem

The intervention area faces the following challenges:

• Resource Management: Need for sustainable exploitation of natural resources
• Economic Development: Lack of a strategy to strengthen the local economy
• Social Inequalities: Need to improve residents' quality of life
• Environmental Threats: Protection of biodiversity and prevention of environmental risks

The Solution

The study aims to create an Integrated Territorial Investment that includes:

• Diagnosis and Analysis: Identification of needs, challenges, and opportunities using tools such as SWOT analysis
• Development Strategy: Formation of a vision and determination of priority axes and specific goals aligned with national and regional strategies
• Action Plan: Selection and prioritization of projects and actions based on criteria such as feasibility, maturity, and viability
