Contract Signed for the Lake Vistonida Management Study

We are pleased to announce the signing of the contract for the study “Water Management Plan for Lake Vistonida and Delineation – Definition of Shoreline and Beach Zone.” The agreement was formalized by Georgios Kampas, Coordinator of the Decentralized Administration of Macedonia–Thrace, and Georgios Tsakoumis, General Director of Consortis and Common Representative of the Contractor Consortium, in the presence of Dimitris Galamatis, Secretary of DAMTH.

Lake Vistonida is a wetland of national importance and a vital natural resource for the region. This study represents a strategic step toward safeguarding the lake’s ecological balance while supporting sustainable development for the surrounding communities.

The study focuses on four strategic pillars:

  • Flood protection
  • Environmentally responsible runoff management
  • Institutional safeguarding through shoreline delineation
  • Sustainable lakeside land-use planning

Funded by the Regional Development Program 2021–2025, the project reflects a strong collaboration between institutional, technical, and scientific stakeholders.
